Recording the seasons
07/03/2012 in gardening
When I started this blog, one of my intentions was to have a record of what bloomed when, so that I could provide a continuous look at the progression of my gardens through the year.
I’ve done a poor job of of providing that coverage, and only part of that is due to the difficulty of getting a good shot in the harsh sub-tropical sun, or the importance of getting a shot on the day or week when the flower is in peak bloom… some plants provide continuous bloom for months… posting the same flowers for a number of months would seem a bit monotonous…
On my tumblr blog, I’ve done better, as most of those pics were posted on the day or week when I took the picture.
Over the last coupla years, I’ve taken some nice pictures, and some of them stand out as personal faves.
I’ve attempted to round up a few of those…
I’ve added photo information to a number of these, clicking the thumbnails enlarges the pic, includes the description. Clicking slideshow gives a slideshow, but nuthin great.
I have a number of other pictures that I also like, but I don’t want to overwhelm… 20 pics should be enough for any post.
I hope yall enjoy the photos!

Where are some more Homminy pictures? He’s really growing up! I’ll bet his coat is going to get a lot darker as he ages. That other kitty is adorable, too. Honest, I looked at ALL the photos, including that mean old frog, but I started with that kitty. The single butterfly and the striped poppy was very good.

Homminy was an amazing kitty. That shot always takes my breath away…
Here’s more Homminy pictures
Mean old frog? Do you mean the toad at the end? Toads are cool.

Thanks Pauline!
I’ve wanted a humming bird visiting flower picture for a long time, and those little buggers are elusive.
Shooting goldfinches gave me practice at getting bird pictures…

I too thought your images are good. I enlarged some to see, most were of critters. The dripping pokeberry was a blow ‘em up on your wall kind of image. So was your big frog. Well, not for everybody maybe, I just happen to really like frogs. I have many painted iron frogs all over my garden. A weird collection, I just like how the artist makes them. So many cool molds.

Thanks Donna,
Critters can be difficult subjects… I really like pokeweed… And that toad was some kind of cool.
Painted iron frogs… Is that like iron tears?

The best of your pictures are superb! Love all of them, but the stink bug one was a new experience for me.

Thanks Ellen!
The stink bug pic is a squash bug, something that us veggie growers are all too familiar with…
