Japanese iris like a wet area, but will tolerate typical garden soil. This perenial also comes up very well from seed. There have been a lot of colours developed by the hybridizers, & this is another flower that deserves a spot in the wetland garden. I've found that as a lover of iris, the more varieties of iris that I grow, the longer the bloom period can be stretched.
